Unverified reputation & blocking – McAfee web security

by Janani

You might have seen the URL filter database module of McAfee web gateway blocking some websites. This issue could be due to various reasons. But if you see categories as uncategorized and reputation as Unverified, it is most certainly a new website or domain. McAfee takes some time to scan the latest websites and assign categories & update reputation. The same issue happened to this very particular domain, Learnly. If this is happening to your domain as well, This article will help you fix it quickly.

McAfee offers an online tool, Trusted source, Which helps us set the correct category & request for reputation change. Following are the steps to do the same. McAfee team usually addresses these requests within 5 business days. However, if you are a registered user, the resolution will be much faster.

  1. Visit Trustedsource
  2. Register with your email ID and then click on Check Single URL
  3. Enter your domain & then hit check URL.
  4. Here you might see your domain as uncategorized and reputation as Unverified.
  5. Enter the three categories that your website belongs to & submit the form with proper comments.

McAfee team will review the ticket and assign categories and reputation. They resolved within an hour in my case.
